INERGEN

INERGEN

INERGEN (IG-541) works by displacing a proportion of the air within the enclosure, thereby lowering the oxygen to a level that cannot sustain combustion.

INERGEN is a blend of nitrogen, argon and carbon dioxide. This mixture is designed for safe and environmentally friendly fire protection using gas as an extinguishant. One battery of cylinders may be used for extinguishing in multiple areas by installing so-called section valves. All projected systems are designed and equipped to ensure that no damage can be done to the protected space during the extinguishing agent discharge.

INERGEN kills fires in enclosed spaces by lowering the oxygen level under the level needed for the fire to burn. With most of the flammable materials it is sufficient to decrease normal level of oxygen of 21% to roughly 15%.

Low concentration of carbon dioxide supports absorption of oxygen in human body, thus protecting the persons who would happen to be in the enclosed space in case of fire against negative effects of lower oxygen level.

The success of INERGEN, both as the Halon replacement and as a multipurpose fire fighting system, is based on the fact that it efficiently meets all objectives of an up-to-date fire protection system, including safety of persons, extinguishing efficiency and environment protection.

IG-541

Extinguishing agent IG-541 is a blend of nitrogen, argon and carbon dioxide. This gaseous extinguishing agent lowers the oxygen concentration below 15%, which stops the chemical reaction of burning.

Advantages

  • no ozone layer negative impacts
  • zero global warming potential
  • it does not build up in the atmosphere
  • no safety hazard for personnel
