Systems with chemical extinguishing agents

Systems with chemical extinguishing agents

Systems with chemical extinguishing agents include Hygood, a system internationally recognized as proven, reliable and efficient fire fighting solution and protection of high value assets, processes and locations. Also, it protects the people who work in these protected areas if the pre-defined conditions are observed.

FM200 (HFC227ea)

Electrically non-conductive extinguishing agent FM-200 works by removing critical heat from a fire. Its unique properties prevent subsequent re-ignition. When it comes to being safe for use, FM-200 delivers an ideal solution where personnel safety and process continuity are paramount. (Systems Hygood with FM-200 are approved by LPCB and UL listed.) The decision to use Hygood FM-200 systems can be based on a number of key factors: it is a chemical replacement for Halon 1301 and it is an agent that has been used to successfully protect tens of thousands of high-technology facilities worldwide. At its design concentration, FM-200 does not deplete the oxygen level to a point where it is unsafe for people to remain in the room. After the fire, the gas can escape through normal ventilation, which is possible since FM-200 has no toxic effects. Also, it contains no bromine or chlorine and has zero ozone layer depletion potential. Extinguishing agent Hygood FM-200 is stored in cylinders as a liquid super-pressurized with nitrogen so it requires only a very small storage footprint.

NOVEC 1230

NOVEC 1230 is a liquid substance stored pressurized at 25 bar in steel cylinders. The extinguishing principle is the combination of heat absorption and chemical reaction. Main benefits of a fire fighting system with extinguishing agent NOVEC 1230:

• zero ozone layer depletion potential ODP

• the extinguishing agent decomposes in the atmosphere within 5 days

• negligible global warming potential GWP

• safe for use at permanently attended sites

• minimum footprint demands

CO2

Carbon dioxide is a “clean” substance protecting against fire. It suppresses the fire by discharge of the carbon dioxide into an enclosed space until the oxygen concentration drops below the level allowing combustion, while it causes no damage or harm to the equipment or environment

However, carbon dioxide is a toxic unbreathable gas, dangerous to human beings; it means the gas should be used with high caution.

Advantages

Colourless, odourless, non-contaminating gaseous fire protection.
Designed to protect critical assets and processes without consequential damage.

  • Safe to use in occupied areas
  • Proven through many successful installations around the world
  • Quality and technical/service support Hygood
  • No significant temperature drop
